Virat Kohli and his remarkable Test cricket journey
However, the then-youngster rose to the occasion and quickly established himself as an important cog in the team’s machinery. He delivered one jaw-dropping knock after another, propelling India to numerous victories. Aside from scoring a ton of runs, the Delhi cricketer also performed admirably as a leader.
Taking over from MS Dhoni midway through India’s 2014-15 tour of Australia, Kohli established India as a force to be reckoned with in the longest format. Under his leadership, India also became the first Asian team to win a Test series on Australian soil. In fact, his tally of 40 wins in 68 Tests is the highest for any Indian captain in Test cricket. Although Kohli stepped down as captain earlier this year, he will continue to serve the national team as a batter.
