Pat Cummins recalls sharing a dressing room with KKR captain Shreyas Iyer. Last month, KKR spent a whopping 12.25 crore in the mega auction to bring Shreyas on board.

The Kolkata Knight Riders will be led by in-form Shreyas Iyer in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and expectations are high for the right-handed batter. The franchise owned by Shah Rukh Khan paid a whopping INR 12.25 crore in the mega auction last month to bring Shreyas on board. KKR also made several other significant purchases at the auction, including reacquiring Pat Cummins’ services for INR 7.25 crore.

The Australian racer was released by the franchise prior to the auction but was later purchased back. As Cummins and Shreyas prepare to team up, the Australian Test captain recalled sharing a dressing room with the latter. Both players were playing for the Delhi Daredevils at the time (now Delhi Capitals).

Pat Cummins: Shreyas Iyer appears to be a very calm person

“Shreyas, I played with him at Delhi (Daredevils), and we got along great.” He appears to be a very calm man who is in good shape at the moment. “I’m so excited to go over there; I’ll be playing alongside some close friends, and I can’t wait,” Cummins said at a press conference in Lahore.

“I’m very excited. It’s fantastic that the majority of the squad has remained together. “As a result, the majority of the players and staff are very familiar,” he added. Cummins, who is now the captain of the Australian Test team, may come to Iyer’s aid in making decisions. In addition, the Indian batter is no stranger to leadership, having twice led the Delhi Capitals to the playoffs. He was also sensational in last month’s three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Cummins is in Pakistan for a three-match Test series, which is currently tied at 0-0 after the first two games. The third and final Test will take place on March 21 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Returning to IPL 2022, KKR, the last season’s runners-up, will face defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the tournament opener on March 26.
