Gautam Gambhir explains why Lucknow chose Marcus Stoinis for the IPL 2022 team.

Stoinis was signed by the Lucknow franchise for INR 9.2 crore.

The IPL 2022 will feature ten teams, with the addition of two new teams, Lucknow and Ahmedabad.

The Lucknow franchise has appointed former Team India opener Gautam Gambhir as coach, and they have already signed three players ahead of the auction.

KL Rahul, the Indian limited-overs vice-captain, has been named captain. With the other two players being emerging leggie Ravi Bishnoi and star Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis. Meanwhile, coach Gambhir has revealed the precise reason for signing Stoinis. He believes the all-rounder can play the finisher’s role flawlessly.

“Stoinis is the complete package after Ben Stokes, who is unlikely to play in the IPL this season.” He can bat, bowl, and field, and he is one of the best fielders in the game. “I believe his addition is good news for the team,” Gautam Gambhir said on Star Sports. “We saw him play in the ICC T20 World Cup.” “He can win matches on his own,” he added.

Furthermore, the two-time World Cup winner stated that the franchise decided to sign Marcus Stoinis purely as a finisher because they were unaware of English all-rounder Ben Stokes’ availability for next month’s auction. Gambhir also stated that, in addition to batting well in the middle order, Stoinis has the ability to finish games.
