Dinesh Karthik Names Solution To India’s Middle-Order Woes In ODIs

Dinesh Karthik believes that, unlike in his early days, Ravindra Jadeja bats with a lot of intelligence, especially in white-ball cricket, and that the player can bat at no. 6 or even no. 5 given his recent exploits with the bat.

India’s middle-order woes continued during their recent tour of South Africa, as the Proteas swept the three-match ODI series. With the exception of a few batters, India’s batting line-up crumbled against the South African bowling attack, and the team failed to win a single One-Day International. While discussing India’s middle-order batting woes, India cricketer Dinesh Karthik stated that someone like Ravindra Jadeja, who missed the series due to injury, could win games for the team after batting so well recently.

Karthik believes that, unlike in his early days, Jadeja bats with a lot of intelligence, especially in white-ball cricket, and that the player can bat at no. 6 or even no. 5 given his recent exploits with the bat.

“At No.6, Jadeja is ready to bat. In fact, he is batting so well that he can also bat at No. 5. He’s using his brain and isn’t the same reckless kid he used to be. He’s the type of player who can win games with his bat. In fact, his strongest suit in white-ball cricket is his batting,” Karthik said on Cricbuzz.

Jadeja is currently on the sidelines due to an injury to his right forearm sustained during the first Test against New Zealand last year.

After losing both the Test and ODI series against South Africa, the Indian team will look to rebound during the upcoming white-ball series at home against the West Indies.

India and West Indies will play three ODIs, followed by as many T20Is between February 6 and 20.

The ODIs will be played in Ahmedabad, while the T20Is will be played at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.
