In a dominant performance, the record six-time world champions defended 269/8 and bowled their opponents out for 128 at Basin Reserve. During the game, two spectacular catches were made, which drew the attention of cricket fans. The first came from Maddy Green of New Zealand, who ran to her left from long on and took an acrobatic catch to dismiss Australia’s Ellyse Perry off the bowling of Lea Tahuhu.

Later in the game, Amelia Kerr of New Zealand edged a Darcie Brown delivery towards the slip cordon.

Meanwhile, nearly every member of Meg Lanning’s powerful side contributed significantly, with Perry (68) and Tahlia McGrath (57) scoring valuable half-centuries and the returning Ashleigh Gardner (48* from just 18 balls) putting the finishing touches on an Australian flurry with the bat.
But it was with the ball that the Australians really shone, with teenager Brown (3/22) ripping through the New Zealand top-order and Amanda-Jade Wellington (2/34) and Gardner (2/15) putting the finishing touches on an impressive team performance.
With three wins in a row, Australia has reclaimed first place in the tournament standings, while New Zealand has dropped to fourth and is still fighting for a place in the semi-finals.
