Will Sourav Ganguly Enter The Race For ICC Chairmanship? The Supreme Court order on Wednesday clear the way for Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah to remain in the BCCI until 2025. But big changes are expect in the Indian Cricket Board, with Sourav Ganguly possibly becoming ICC Chairman and Jay Shah possibly becoming BCCI president.
Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah will serve their second BCCI term after the Supreme Court granted the board’s request for an amendment to the cooling-off period clause on Wednesday. However, Ganguly may be in line for a larger role. According to BCCI sources, the former Indian captain could take over as chairman of the ICC in November. The world’s supreme cricket body is holding elections, with incumbent Greg Barkley’s term coming to an end soon. Barkley expressed his desire to continue for two more years at the Annual Conference in Birmingham.
At the Birmingham conference, the procedure for selecting the new chief decided. The chairman is no longer elect with a two-thirds majority. According to the most recent proposal, the winner will be the competitor who receives 51% of the votes. In a board of 16 directors, the candidate only needs nine votes to be elected.
According to sources, the BCCI is now backing Sourav Ganguly for the top job.
If Ganguly receives enough votes, he will fill the BCCI seat. Jay Shah, the current BCCI secretary, is expect to fill the position, and Arun Dhumal will take over as secretary.

If Ganguly is appoint as the ICC’s chairman. He will be the fifth Indian to hold the position. ICC chairmanships previously been held by N Srinivasan and Shashank Manohar.
Previously, Jagmohan Dalmiya and Sharad Pawar held the position of ICC president.
