BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed that Laxman will lead India for Zimbabwe ODIs

BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed that Laxman will lead India in the three-match ODI series, but that Rahul Dravid will not take a break. He stated that the time difference between the Asia Cup squad departing for the UAE and the end of the Zimbabwe tour is only one day, and that Dravid would have to be with the T20I squad rather than the ODI squad.

“Yes, VVS Laxman will lead the Indian team in Zimbabwe for the three-match One-Day International series.” Rahul Dravid isn’t taking a vacation. The ODI series in Zimbabwe concludes on August 22, and Dravid and the Indian team will arrive in the UAE on August 23, according to NDTV Sports.

Because there is little time between the two events, Laxman will lead the Indian team in Zimbabwe. “Given that only KL and Hooda are in Zimbabwe with the ODI squad, it was only natural that the head coach would be with the T20 squad,” he added.

Meanwhile, the BCCI named a 15-man squad for the Asia Cup, with Jasprit Bumrah out due to injury. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli return to the squad, but Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson were left out. Samson and Kishan will play in the three-match One-Day International series against Zimbabwe, which begins on August 18. After being deem fit, Rahul will captain the team in Zimbabwe.
