Suresh Raina Has “Lost MS Dhoni’s Loyalty”: Simon Doull

Suresh Raina will not play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the first time since the tournament’s inception in 2008. He was the coach of the now-defunct Gujarat Lions for two seasons.

Suresh Raina had a difficult outing in IPL 2021 after missing the previous edition due to personal reasons. He missed the latter stages of the tournament due to a knee injury.

In response to Raina’s failure to sell in the auction, former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull listed “two to three” reasons why CSK and the other franchises chose not to bid on the veteran batter.

“We don’t need to go on (and on) about why he lost his loyalty in the UAE. There’s already a lot of speculation about that. He lost the team’s loyalty as well as MS Dhoni’s loyalty. You’re unlikely to be welcome back once you’ve done that “Doull stated this during a discussion on Cricbuzz.

Raina, who announced his international retirement on the same day as Dhoni, is the fourth-highest run-scorer in IPL history, with 5,528 runs in 205 games.

Raina has also won four IPL titles, all with CSK, including the most recent one last season.

CSK, on the other hand, has rebuilt a strong team by retaining some of their proven performers such as Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar, Robin Uthappa, and Ambati Rayudu.

The four-time champions will be led by MS Dhoni, who was retained before the auction along with Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, and Ravindra Jadeja.
