Scott Boland joins Australia’s Ashes squad ahead of the Boxing Day Test in 2021-22.

In 2018-19, Boland was named Marsh Sheffield Shield player of the year.

Australia is experiencing a fantastic run in the ongoing Ashes. Having won the second Test on December 20, giving them a two-match winning streak in the series. They have recruited Scott Boland to their team for the third Boxing Day Test. Another pacer is expected to be recruited to the squad, to help manage the workload of players like Mitchell Starc, who has already played two Tests.

Boland, the Marsh Sheffield Shield player of the year in 2018-19, is an excellent candidate in this scenario. He was also in excellent form for Victoria this summer, taking 15 wickets in in two games against New South Wales. Before joining his national squad, he also played in a game against the England Lions.

“Boland has been working with the team in Adelaide and will join the squad while the medical staff reviews the fast-bowling group following the second Test triumph,” Cricket Australia said in a statement.

So far in the Ashes, England has lost two games in a row, both by large margins. While Australia won by nine wickets in the first game, they won by 275 runs in the second, with England’s Joe Root opening the innings.

England’s Joe Root discusses the team’s blunders.

“Looking at the ball in hand, I don’t believe we bowled the correct lengths; we needed to bowl fuller.” We made it more difficult for them as soon as we did that in the second inning. It’s disheartening since we repeated the same errors from four years ago. We could have bowled more effectively and batted more effectively.

“We need to be (confident) in our ability to turn things around.” I believe we have everything we need to win this game. All you have to do now is stop making the same mistakes. We need to get through the first 20 minutes and then get greedy; we also need to leave better. After the conclusion of the second Ashes match, Root stated, “Certainly, capable of it.”
