Ravichandran Ashwin’s confidence and skills ahead of the T20 World Cup in 2022 are questioned by Kapil Dev. – ‘He was hiding his face’. In the current T20 World Cup in Australia, experienced off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s confidence and skill with the ball in hand have come under scrutiny from Kapil Dev.

Legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev has expressed his extreme displeasure with senior spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s performance in Twenty20 internationals. The 1983 World Cup champion captain further clarified the situation by saying that Ashwin isn’t bowling with conviction and conviction during the current T20 World Cup, and that most of the wickets he gained were solely because of the batter’s error rather than dismissing them on his merit.

Kapil Dev said Ashwin hasn’t given me the confidence

“Until now, Ashwin hasn’t given me the confidence. He picked up wickets today but it didn’t look as if he got them. In fact, batsmen iss tarah out huye ki unhe khud bhi 1-2 wickets lete huye sharam aa rahi thi.  He was hiding his face. Picking up wickets obviously gives you that confidence but the Ashwin we know, we haven’t seen him show the same rhythm,” 

Kapil said.

The player-turned-cricket commentator played it safe when asked if the Tamil Nadu cricketer will be featured in the starting XI for India’s semi-final match against England at the Adelaide Oval. He said that it all relies on the decisions made by the team management on that specific day.

“It depends on the team management. If they have the confidence on Ashwin, it’s good. He has played the entire tournament so he can adjust if need be. But if you want to surprise the opposition, they can always turn to the wrist-spinner (Chahal). Whoever wins the confidence of the management and captain, will play,” 

He added.

In his first five games. The experienced offie has claimed six victories. In their tense match at the MCG, the veteran offie also struck the winning run against Pakistan.

In the last Super 12 match between Zimbabwe and the Men in Blue, Ravichandran Ashwin claimed three wickets. His final statistics, 3/22 from four overs at an economy of 5.5, were excellent.
