ICC WWC: Mithali Raj Blames England’s Loss On A Lack Of Batting Partnerships.

After a four-wicket loss to England in the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup 2022. India skipper Mithali Raj said the team was bogged down by a lack of partnerships. Also the bowling unit did not have enough runs on the board to play with. Batting first, Team India bowl out for 134, with no batter able to stay at the crease for an extended period of time.

“We definitely didn’t have any partnerships, and despite getting what we wanted after losing the toss, things didn’t go our way. When you lose, you always think you’re running out of runs. Getting 200 could have changed the outcome of the match. Every game in which we performed well as a fielding unit, “Mithali stated following the conclusion of the match against England.

“It is an area where we have made strides. We need to put in a lot of effort with our batting. It’s an honor to be able to play alongside Jhulan Goswami. It is difficult for any fast bowler to consistently perform at this level “she went on to say

Only Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh got going with the bat, scoring 35 and 33 respectively. Jhulan Goswami also had a 20-minute cameo, but it wasn’t enough to help Team India post a respectable score.

England continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, but skipper Heather Knight’s unbeaten knock of 53 helped the side cross the line with four wickets in hand and 172 balls to spare.

With six points from four games, India has moved up to third place in the ICC Women’s World Cup points table. The Mithali-led team will now face Australia on Saturday.

England, on the other hand, has won their first match of the tournament, giving the defending champions renewed hope of reaching the semi-finals.
