Harbhajan Singh, a former cricketer for Team India, announced his retirement from all forms of the game on Friday. The spinner also received a flood of messages and letters from all around the world congratulating him on his outstanding and successful career. Geeta Basra, his wife, was also among his well-wishers. Basra wrote a long and moving essay on Twitter, reminiscing on all of Harbhajan’s and his family’s “ups and downs” over his cricket career.

Geeta also went on to say how pleased the family was of all his accomplishments, writing, “I know how long you’ve been waiting for this. You had mentally retired a long time ago, but you were still waiting for the proper time to officially retire. Today, I’d like to express our admiration for you and your accomplishments! On this magnificent journey ahead of you, there is so much more to discover.”
She also talked about the triumphant festivities that followed each victory, as well as the “endless prayers” that made it possible.
