Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Gujarat Titans, one of the two new entrants in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, in a group stage match at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. After a couple of poor performances, young opener Abhishek Sharma delivered in the previous match and was named Player of the Match. The left-handed batter smashed 75 runs off 50 balls, including five fours and three sixes. Abhishek and skipper Kane Williamson added 89 runs for the first wicket, nicely setting up SRH’s run chase of 155.

After a crucial knock, Abhishek stated that spending time with batting coach Brian Lara has helped him live up to his potential.
“After the second game, we took a four-day break.” During the practice sessions at the time, Brian sir assisted not only me but also many of the team’s younger members. He advised me, in particular, to think positively and choose the balls wisely (to go after). “I just followed that, and it has helped me a lot,” Abhishek said in an interview with SRH.

Meanwhile, SRH, who chose to bowl first against GT, restricted the newcomers to 162/7 in their 20 overs. Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan were the Orange Army’s standout bowlers, each taking two wickets. Hardik Pandya, the captain, was the top scorer for GT, going unbeaten on 50 runs. SRH will need 163 runs to win their second match in a row.
