Rohit Sharma should captain India in all formats: Gautam Gambhir

Gambhir believes that having a single captain across formats, will ensure consistency in style and approach.

Former India captain Virat Kohli stepped down from the T20I captaincy. Following India’s run at the T20 World Cup 2021, and in a dramatic turn of events. He was also removed from the ODI captaincy. However, fans and experts were taken aback when the ace batter stepped down from Test captaincy. A format in which his leadership was widely regarded as the best for India. In the same vein, India is currently looking for a Test captain to replace Rohit Sharma, who is already in charge of white-ball duties.

Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir expressed his thoughts in the same context. Saying that Rohit should be given leadership across all formats, with KL Rahul as his deputy. Given that India only has one more T20 World Cup this year, this move will ensure consistency in style.

“Rohit Sharma, in my opinion, should lead India across all formats, with Rahul as his deputy.” “Having one captain across formats will ensure consistency in the Indian team’s style and approach. Especially since we have another T20 World Cup later this year,” Gambhir wrote in his column for The Times of India.

Virat, I believe, left the Indian Test team in good health: Gautam Gambhir

Gambhir went on to say that India’s strength is in their Test setup. But that they still have issues to work out in their white-ball formats. The former opener also praised India’s bowling in the most basic form of the game and advocated for a stable middle order in limited-overs matches.

“The new space has been occupied by Virat resigning from Test captaincy.” I believe it is an individual’s choice. Also, and it should be treated as such. I believe Virat left the Indian Test team in good physical condition. But I can’t say the same for white-ball cricket. In Test matches, our bowling resources are the envy of our neighbors and the pride of our owners. They have repeatedly demonstrated that they are the engine room for a team’s performance. “I’d have liked to see a more settled middle-order in limited-overs cricket, which Virat couldn’t create,” Gambhir added.
