Ravi Shastri Highlights the Reasons for Ravindra Jadeja’s Captaincy Failure. Ravindra Jadeja stepped down from Chennai Super Kings’ captaincy and was replaced by MS Dhoni after the four-time champions lost six of their first eight matches in IPL 2022.
Ravindra Jadeja had a forgettable performance as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The defending champions lost six of their first eight matches under him. After a poor start, MS Dhoni reclaimed the captaincy of the four-time IPL champions. CSK has won two of their last three games under Dhoni’s leadership. However, a playoff spot appears to be difficult at this time.

In response to Jadeja’s captaincy failures, Ravi Shastri stated that giving Jadeja the captain’s armband made things difficult for the allrounder.
“He is not a natural leader. He has never captained a team at any level. So, I thought giving him the responsibility was unfair to Jadeja “On ESPNcricinfo’s T20 Time Out, Shastri stated.
“People might want to judge Jaddu, but it’s not his fault. He hasn’t captained anywhere. He looked a fish out of water, totally out of place and he’s far better off playing as a player. Because he’s one of the best around in the business, when it comes to allrounders.
“So let him concentrate solely on his cricket. The decision to give him the captaincy cost CSK a few games in the beginning. If they kept this up, they’d be right in the mix.”
Regarding the options for Dhoni’s replacement, Shastri stated: “So, who are the alternatives? Faf du Plessis for RCB, for example “Shastri suggested that the Super Kings wait until the auction if necessary. “Within the mix, if you think Ruturaj, Moeen, or even a local player has that ability to lead a side, go for it.”
