KL Rahul ruled out of the rest of the IPL 2023 due to injury. While chasing the ball in the outfield against RCB, the captain injured his right leg.

KL Rahul of the LSG is expect to miss the rest of the IPL 2023 season. After suffering an injury during Monday’s match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). During the opening innings, the skipper injured his right leg while pursuing the ball in the outfield during the second over against RCB.

Following the match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Wednesday, May 3, Rahul will travel to Mumbai for scans at a designated BCCI medical facility. A top BCCI source reveal that no scans have been performed and that the BCCI will take over the case.

“KL (Rahul) is currently with the team in Lucknow, but he is leaving the camp on Thursday after watching the game against CSK on Wednesday,” the team said. His scans would be performed in Mumbai at the BCCI-designated medical institution,” a senior BCCI source familiar with the situation informed The Times of India on condition of anonymity.

Regardless of the severity of the injury, the governing body of cricket does not want to take any chances and may put Rahul on the sidelines to allow him to recover in time for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final. The hitter is part of the red-ball contingent that will face off against Australia in the summit showdown, which will begin on June 7 at The Oval in London.

Krunal Pandya to lead LSG

On that note, Krunal Pandya is expect to take over as LSG’s captain for the balance of the season. The bad news came on the same day that pacer Jaydev Unadkat injured. Notably, the pacer suffered a blow to his left shoulder after his left foot became entangled in the rope during one of the net workouts, causing him to grip his shoulder.

While Unadkat will be rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, Rahul will begin his recovery after the scans. The franchise and management have yet to issue an official comment.
