Andrew Symonds lost the opportunity as Australia’s mentor in T20 World Cup 2021. Symonds has revealed that he was all set to join the Australian side. But for the T20 World Cup as a mentor. However, he couldn’t accept head coach Justin Langer’s invitation due to Covid-19. Symonds made his title in the limited-overs format. Also, with his ability in the bat and the ball as well as his electric fielding displays. He told foxsports.com.au that he was honored with the call-up. Also, he was looking forward to taking up the role.
“Justin Langer is the man who contacted me. Because he’s had Ponting, Hussey, and Steve Waugh go on the Ashes, they were just trying to get players who had played different types of cricket and had extended periods of success in and around the group and a fresh face,” Andrew Symonds said.

“I was really excited to go on that and honored. I said, ‘I can’t believe you’ve asked me to go’. Also, I certainly wasn’t expecting that looking at the players who had done it,” Symonds added.
The Australian side has been trying to involve legends of the game. Also, to help out the team with guidance and experience during important campaigns. Ponting had joined the Australian side ahead of the 2019 ICC Men’s World Cup campaign. Steve was part of the support group when the side traveled to England.
