David Warner

David Warner, the IPL’s most successful overseas batter with 5,449 runs in 149 matches, is expected to be a hot pick in the mega auction. The attacking Australian, who captained Sunrisers Hyderabad to the IPL 2016 title, left the franchise in disgrace last year when he was removed as captain and then dropped from the playing XI.

Jonny Bairstow

For the last few seasons of the IPL, the England heavyweight was a major star at the top of the order for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Bairstow has a strike rate of 142.19 in the IPL, which is significantly higher than the strike rate of the majority of the tournament’s openers. Teams like KKR, which has struggled to find a reliable opener since the departures of Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa, may be interested in Bairstow in the mega auction. He’s a good option because he can put on the gloves.

Jason Roy

Bairstow’s England opening partner and another explosive player at the top of the order. Jason Roy was also a former SRH player. If he gets going, the right-hander can single-handedly demolish bowling attacks, which he does quite frequently in white-ball cricket. Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore are among the teams willing to pay a high price for his services.

Faf du Plessis

It was unfortunate that the Chennai Super Kings were unable to retain Faf du Plessis. For the last few seasons, he has been a stalwart of their batting lineup. The former South African captain, a pillar at the top of the order and an outstanding outfielder, will undoubtedly be on CKS’s wishlist, but don’t be surprised if other franchises raise the paddle to bring Faf on board.

Quinton de Kock

South Africa’s wicketkeeper-batter is currently one of the cleanest strikers of the ball in world cricket. He demonstrated his worth numerous times while opening the batting for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Now that he has retired from red-ball cricket, his full focus will be on capitalizing on limited-overs opportunities, and what better platform than the IPL? In the recently concluded ODI series against India, De Kock was in excellent form. The scouts must have been keeping a close eye on the left-hander. When de Kock’s name comes up in the mega auction, expect the stock to rise.
