Zimbabwe U-19 team gets surprise visit from Rohit Sharma. Lalchand Rajput, the technical director of Zimbabwe Cricket and a former Indian cricketer and coach, has organized a tour to his birthplace of Mumbai for the young Zimbabwean players.
While the Indian team is on tour in Bangladesh, Zimbabwe’s young cricketers are gaining experience on the subcontinent due to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). The young cricketers are practicing for the Under-19 T20 World Cup, which will be hosted in Sri Lanka in 2024.
Lalchand Rajput, the technical director of Zimbabwe Cricket and a former Indian cricketer and coach, has organized a tour to his birthplace of Mumbai for the young Zimbabwean players. The tour was planned to teach the young cricketers about the difficulties of playing on the subcontinent.
“They’re having a great time. It’s been a rewarding experience for the lads. They play roughly six one-day and three T20 games, and its an excellent instructional tour for us since we want them to be exposed to these circumstances… how to bat, bowl, and remain at the wicket “Cricbuzz said Lalchand Rajput.

Former Zimbabwe cricketer Prosper Utseya, who is in charge of the young players, indicate that the goal to put them through their paces in difficult Indian circumstances. It wasn’t only about the cricket; it was also about acclimating them to the diet and weather of the subcontinent. He hopes to establish a solid platform for the next generation of Zimbabwe cricketers to compete at the top level.
“Cricket is about food, humidity, weather, and intensity. We want them to be assess – overall learning is the goal. We want them to be able to bat and bowl for extended periods of time. The mission will be successful if we can provide a solid basis and eventually build a very competitive national side “According to Prosper Utseya.
The Zimbabwean cricketers were starstruck by a surprise guest on their journey to India when Indian skipper Rohit Sharma attended their changing room at the BKC field following a match on Thursday, December 15.
“I asked him if he could talk to the lads in the locker room. He agreed and was delighted to do so. Rohit was really kind to take time out of his busy and valuable schedule to offer his expertise and skills. He also serves as an example for the guys.
