The pace spearhead, who is known to consistently clock 150 kmph, was picked for the squad and made the starting XI. Wasim Jaffer, a former cricket player, believed that Umran will do better in the 50-over format than the T20s as a result of his outstanding performance against the Black Caps.

“As the game gets bigger, you got to have a lot more skills and that’s something they will learn. The One Day format suits Umran Malik more than T20s. We have seen in the IPL that he doesn’t have many variations compared to bowling in this format when he needs to hit the right line and lengths and use the short ball well,”
Jaffer said.
The 23-year-old took two wickets and allowed 66 runs in his allotted 10 overs in his ODI debut against the Kane Williamson-led team. The Kiwi hitters continued to add the necessary runs to keep the scoreboard moving, so it wasn’t enough for the side to get the advantage in the game.
Additionally, the squad was easily guided to victory by Tom Latham and skipper Williamson’s enormous scores. Williamson led the pair’s unbroken effort with 94* runs, but Latham was the star with an unbeaten 145 off only 104 balls.
The Men in Blue will go to Bangladesh for the ODI and Test series in December following the conclusion of the three-match ODI series against the Kiwis.
