Kohli’s shenanigans managed to put a smile on the faces of Bumrah and other Indian players.

Bumrah picked up his eighth five-for, his first on home soil, as India bowled out Sri Lanka for 109 in the first innings.

His five-for-twenty-four figures helped India take a 143-run lead after posting a total of 252 in the first innings.

Aside from Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin each took two wickets, and Axar Patel took one on his return to the side.

India declared their second innings at 303/9, thanks to fifty-plus scores from Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer.

Earlier, Sri Lanka resumed their innings on Day 1 with 86 for six at stumps, trailing India by 166 runs.

Shreyas Iyer top-scored for India with 92, while Rishabh Pant and Hanuma Vihari cameoed with 39 and 31, respectively.

For Sri Lanka, Lasith Embuldeniya and Praveen Jayawickrama each took three wickets, while Dhanajaya de Silva also took two.

India has a 1-0 lead in the two-match series after winning the first Test in Mohali by an innings and 222 runs.

Last month, the hosts also swept the visitors 3-0 in the T20I series.
