Surrey signs West Indies spinner Sunil Narine for the Vitality Blast campaign. Sunil Narine has played 51 T20 Internationals for West Indies. Taking 52 wickets, and has 429 wickets in 391 T20 matches overall.

Surrey County Cricket Club announced the signing of West Indies bowler Sunil Narine for the duration of the Vitality Blast on Wednesday. Narine will join the Club after his Indian Premier League commitments with Kolkata Knight Riders are completed. He will be available for the remainder of the competition. The Trinidadian is the first of two foreign players in Surrey’s Vitality Blast squad. Narine, a white-ball mystery spinner with a variety of variations and capable of batting anywhere in the order, has established a reputation as a highly skilled performer over the course of a more than a decade-long international and franchise career.

The 33-year-old has appeared in 51 T20Is for West Indies, taking 52 wickets, and has 429 wickets in 391 T20 matches overall.

Sunil Narine Vitality Blast campaign

He was a key player in West Indies’ 2012 T20 World Cup victory in Sri Lanka. Taking nine wickets for his country. He also represented his country in the 2014 T20 World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.

Narine has won the Indian Premier League twice with Kolkata Knight Riders. And was named Player of the Tournament in 2012. He has also won three Caribbean Premier League titles and two Bangladesh Premier League titles.

He has also played in the Big Bash League, Pakistan Super League, and the Abu Dhabi T10 League. Narine will also have fresh memories of The Kia Oval. Having played for Oval Invincibles in The Hundred’s inaugural season last year.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to play for Surrey in the Vitality Blast this year; one of the few competitions around the world I’ve not experienced in my career,” Narine said in a statement upon signing for the Club.

“My time with the Oval Invincibles in 2021 taught me how special it is to play in front of a packed Kia Oval crowd. This year, my goal is to entertain as many people as possible while also ensuring that the Club competes for the trophy.”
