To put Ganguly and Dravid’s relationship into context. The former left-hander has played 424 matches for India, of which Dravid was a part of 369, accounting for nearly 90 percent of his international career.

Eden Gardens has also seen a fair amount of Ganguly and Dravid friendship. The pair have played eight Tests and two One-Day Internationals at the same venue. Which will host India’s three-match T20I series against the West Indies beginning on Wednesday. All three matches are set to take place on this field.

India thrashed the West Indies in a three-match ODI series, but they will face stiffer competition in T20Is from the visitors, who have historically been one of the best sides in the shortest format of the game.

In the eight months leading up to the T20 World Cup, India has a jam-packed white ball calendar. They will then face Sri Lanka in three Twenty20 Internationals, followed by a Test series. As a result, Captain Rohit Sharma wants to “identify” players and give them a fair chance.

“The goal is to identify the players who will compete in the World Cup and give them game time. There are a lot of injured players. I Don’t know who will be fit and who will not be for the World Cup “Rohit stated prior to the game.

“Simply want to give the other guys a chance and be prepared for it. We have a very busy schedule, and injuries are unavoidable. So it’s critical that we give the guys who will fill those roles plenty of game time as well “He continued.
