Shane Warne Highlights Virat Kohli’s Significant Contribution.
Virat Kohli recently resigned as Test captain following his team’s 1-2 loss to South Africa.
Virat Kohli was a “inspiring leader” in his own right. Without his passion for the game’s traditional format. Test cricket’s popularity would have dwindled in some other countries, according to legend Shane Warne on Monday. Kohli recently relinquished his Test captaincy following his team’s 1-2 loss to a weak South African side, but the leg-spin wizard’s biggest contribution is being the foremost flag-bearer of cricket’s most difficult form.
“Virat was an excellent leader who inspired his teammates. I believe he could have improved on the tactical side, but as a leader, I believe he consistently inspired his teammates “Warne told PTI in an exclusive interview while promoting his documentary ‘Shane,’ which aired earlier this month on the ‘Book My Show’ streaming platform.
For Warne, Kohli’s promotion of Test cricket has greatly increased the former India captain’s respect.
“First and foremost, I have nothing but admiration for Virat Kohli. I think he’s a fantastic cricketer and a fantastic ambassador for the game. I believe we should all thank Virat Kohli and the BCCI for promoting Test cricket as the premier format “said the holder of 709 Test wickets.

Shane Warne Highlights Virat Kohli’s Contribution
Warne believes that if Kohli and the Indian cricket board had not stood firm in preserving the sanctity of Test cricket, some other countries would have lost interest in T20 leagues in this day and age.
“If you want to put yourself to the test in cricket, play Test cricket.” Our sport’s most difficult form is the test. If India and Virat Kohli hadn’t emphasized Test cricket. A lot of other countries would have dropped out, but Virat really pushed Test cricket.
“I, for one, am grateful to Virat and the BCCI for the way he goes about it. And he is fantastic for the game,” Warne said.
Warne has been overwhelmed by the response to his documentary thus far.
“I’m very proud of it, and the response has been incredible. People have loved it and been inspired by it. So it was natural for me to do it after being in the public eye for over 30 years. So it’s been pretty interesting to touch on some of the events. That occurred 30 years ago and reflect on them.” Warne added.
