Pakistan player Shaheen Shah Afridi is ready to return to action after a lengthy absence due to a horrific injury sustained at the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in November 2022. Shaheen had fallen awkwardly during the catch he grabbed to remove Harry Brook in Melbourne’s tournament final.

The knee soreness that led to his going off at a vital moment in the final was presumably “due to a forceful knee flexion when landing”. When he returned to the squad in Pakistan, he undertook rehabilitation and training to strengthen his knee.

Shaheen’s waiting period is coming to an end as he nears his homecoming

Taking to Twitter, the tall bowler tweet a few photographs of himself practicing in a warm-up match with his PSL team Lahore Qalandars, where he seemed to be virtually match-fit.

For the uninitiated, Shaheen is the captain of the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League. It appears like he will make a comeback to competitive cricket against the Multan Sultans in the tournament’s first match on February 13.

However, following medical evaluations and examinations, he realized that the injury had aggravated significantly and that he would have to miss games for an extended period of time.

He had previously had a knee ailment, which had kept him out of the Asia Cup in 2022 as well. The speedster has been rehabbing in London after suffering a knee injury while fielding during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle in July 2022.
