Gary Stead, head coach, discusses Kane Williamson elbow injury.

The head coach of the New Zealand cricket team, Gary Stead, stated that he hopes Williamson will be able to return from injury, but that there is no guarantee as to when that will occur. Stead added that Williamson should avoid long net sessions and that his preparation may need to be adjusted.

“I hope we can get to a point where it’s like that, but there’s no guarantee, and it’s something we’ve discussed.” Kane may simply have to adjust his approach to preparation, perhaps by not having as many extensive net sessions during preparation periods. “How the elbow shapes up is still something to be determined,” Stead said last month, as quoted by stuff.co.nz.

Stead also stated that in the past, Williamson has been pushed to return to action too soon, and the idea behind resting Williamson is to ensure that he does not experience pain.

“The goal is to be free of all pain.” “We’ve tried and maybe pushed him a little too early in the past couple of times, so we’ve got to be careful around the program,” New Zealand coach Stead concluded.
