Hardik Pandya is set to name Ahmedabad captain for the IPL 2022 season

Ahmedabad and Lucknow are two new teams that will soon announce their three draft picks ahead of the mega auction. The BCCI recently cleared Ahmedabad franchise owners CVC Capitals. After it was revealed that they were involved in betting.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that they have signed three players ahead of the auction: Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill. While Gill is set to receive Rs 7 crore, Hardik and Rashid have both agreed to terms for Rs 15 crore each.
According to Cricbuzz, the Ahmedabad franchise is also set to appoint Hardik Pandya as captain for the upcoming season. This move secures the all-place rounder’s in the team while also attracting local fans, as Hardik hails from Gujarat. The official announcement is expected on Saturday (January 22).

Hardik Pandya Ahmedabad captain for the IPL 2022
Hardik Pandya played for Mumbai Indians until last season and will play for a team other than the MI in the IPL for the first time. He made his debut in the 2015 season and has played key roles in the team’s title victories. However, over the last year or so, the all-rounder has struggled with his fitness and did not bowl a single delivery during the 2021 season. He also didn’t bowl much in the T20 World Cup due to back problems.
As a result, the franchise may opt for Suryakumar Yadav in terms of retentions, allowing the Ahmdeabad franchise to secure Hardik Pandya’s services. The 28-year-old is currently working hard to regain full fitness after missing the mega event in the UAE. It remains to be seen whether he can recover in time for the IPL 2022.
