Gujarat Titans won the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 title with a resounding victory over Rajasthan Royals in the final on Sunday. As RR reached 130/9 in 20 overs, GT captain Hardik Pandya returned with figures of 3/17. GT, one of the IPL’s two new franchises, then reached the target with 11 balls to spare. Hardik Pandya, who score 34 runs as well, named ‘Player Of The Match’ for his all-round performance. Thus, GT accomplished the rare feat of winning the IPL in their first season.
Gujarat Titans responded to a special tweet from UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid with the caption “What they said…#CHAMP1ONS” following their IPL victory. GT’s first title was denoted by the number 1.

Spanish football club Real Madrid’s tweet read: “WE DON’T PLAY FINALS WE WIN FINALS. #CHAMP14NS.”
Real Madrid won their 14th Champions League title on Saturday, defeating Liverpool 1-0 in the final.
After losing the toss, Gujarat’s highly-rated bowling attack, led by skipper Hardik Pandya, limited a formidable Rajasthan Royals batting unit to a modest total in the IPL final.
Then, on 45 and 32, respectively, Shubman Gill and David Miller of GT completed an emphatic win for their team.
The chase should have been easy, but Rajasthan bowled their hearts out to make it an exciting final. Gujarat, as they have done all season, remained composed in difficult situations, finishing the chase in 18.1 overs.
Many did not give Gujarat a chance in their first season, especially after a mixed auction in which they waited until the last minute to sign wicketkeepers Wriddhiman Saha and Matthew Wade.
It wasn’t a star-studded team, but Hardik impressed with his leadership and ability to get the most out of his teammates.
