“Forever Changed Indian Cricket”
A day after India’s 1-2 loss to South Africa in their three-match red-ball series. Kohli stepped down as Test captain. The BCCI has yet to name a new Test captain.
Kohli also issued a social media statement to explain his decision.
After taking over as Test captain from MS Dhoni in the middle of the 2014-15 Australia tour, Kohli led India to the top spot and also recorded 40 wins in 68 games with a win percentage of 58.82, the most by an Indian captain.
McCullum led New Zealand to 11 wins, 11 losses, and nine draws in 31 Tests. His win percentage of 35.48 is the third-highest for any Blackcaps captain with more than ten Tests under his belt.
Previously, Kohli stepped down as T20I captain following the T20 World Cup last year. In December of last year, the BCCI named Rohit Sharma as India’s new full-time white-ball captain.
