The BCCI has stated that the much-anticipated Women’s IPL will begin next year, and six teams are expect to participate. Finally, BCCI secretary Jay Shah recently confirmed that a Women’s IPL will be held next year. (Though specifics have yet to be announced.) Until the Covid-19 emerged in 2020, BCCI had been conducting a Women’s T20 Challenge consisting of three teams, and there has been a constant demand in the circuit to go one step further and conduct a full-fledged Women’s IPL. The Hundred tournament in England, as well as the Women’s Big Bash League, have all gain a lot of popularity among cricket fans, and the Women’s IPL is expect to be a huge success as well.

A BCCI official noted the ongoing preparations to form the structure for the Women’s IPL next year and confirmed that six teams will compete in the tournament.
