Matthew Wade, an Australian wicketkeeper-batsman, survived a rare dismissal in the first T20I against England as the visitors did not challenge his obstructing the field decision. Wade top-edged a delivery produced by Mark Wood in the 17th over, and the ball flew high in the air before landing near to the batting crease. No fielder could get to the catch, and Wood was impeded by Wade as he tried to get near to the ball.

Wade ran back into the hitting crease, blocking Wood with his arm. The umpires had a conversation in the middle and were content to continue with the game when England did not file an appeal. However, had the appeal been grant, the 34-year-old may have been in hot water since he appear to be purposely obstructing Wood with his arm.
