In fact, Imam had a century (103) in the first ODI as well, with Pakistan needing 314 runs to win. Pakistan was on a roll with Imam anchoring the chase from one end, but it all came crashing down when the left-hander was dismissed.
Pakistan went on to lose the by 88 runs.
However, despite Pakistan’s need for a record chase, nothing of the sort occurred in the second ODI.
Fakhar Zaman blasted 67 off 64 balls, adding 118 runs for the first wicket with Imam.
Imam then teamed up with his captain, Babar, and the pair put on 111 runs for the second wicket, laying the groundwork for Pakistan’s historic victory.
Khushdil Shah completed the game with an unbeaten 27 off 17 balls.
The third and final ODI will be played on Saturday, before Australia concludes its tour of Pakistan with a one-off T20I on Tuesday, April 5, also at the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore.
