Aakash Chopra would be concerned about KL Rahul’s fitness.

Aakash Chopra would be concerned about KL Rahul’s fitness. Rahul suffered a hamstring injury while fielding in the second One-Day International against the West Indies earlier this month.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is less than two months away, and all ten franchises are preparing for the grand event. The Lucknow Super Giants, one of the two new franchises, will be one to keep an eye on after assembling a formidable squad at the mega auction earlier this month. However, the team’s management may be concerned about the fitness of their captain, KL Rahul.

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra feels the same way. Rahul suffered a hamstring injury while fielding in the second One-Day International against the West Indies earlier this month. He was later ruled out of the third ODI and the subsequent T20I series. He will also miss India’s upcoming T20I and Test series against Sri Lanka.

Notably, all-rounder Washington Sundar has recently battled injuries. In addition to sustaining a finger fracture ahead of the second leg of IPL 2021, he also contracted COVID-19 twice. Despite playing in the ODI series against the West Indies, he was unable to participate in the T20I leg.

There’s a problem with KL Rahul’s fitness: Mr. Aakash Chopra

“KL Rahul and Washington Sundar have been ruled out of the Sri Lanka tour for the duration.” The questions do arise. KL Rahul’s fitness is an issue, and Lucknow must be sweating. It’s been a long time for Washington Sundar, and an off-spinner getting injured so frequently?” Chopra stated on his YouTube channel.

“He had Covid, then got injured, then got injured again – we haven’t seen him play in eight months.” He was injured before the T20 World Cup, and we haven’t seen him play much since – just a couple of matches here and there. He’s now vanished from the scene and has sustained a long-term injury,” he added.

Notably, the Lucknow-based franchise selected KL Rahul in the draft ahead of the auction for a whopping INR 17 crore. Expectations are sky high for him, as he has been for the Punjab Kings over the last four seasons. As a result, the team would like Rahul to get in shape before the season begins.
